Wider Estate Work
Hedge planting, fence removal, repairs, brush clearance and on-site advice, for property
owners who've inherited a problem they're not sure how to solve.
Some property work doesn't fit cleanly into fencing. We do all of it,
usually alongside a fencing job, sometimes on its own
Hedge planting
Native species hedging: hawthorn, blackthorn, hazel, field maple, beech.
Bareroot in winter, container
in shoulder seasons. We plant for screening, for stock control, for biodiversity, and for property owners
replacing failing post-and-wire with something that'll outlast all of us.
We set hedges up with rabbit guards where you've got browsing pressure, and we'll come back and
replace any failures in the first season.
Tree planting and guards
Whips and standards, planted and braced, then guarded against what wants to eat them. Cattle and
deer-proof guards for estate parkland, chestnut and mesh guards for younger stock. Often run alongside hedge planting and stock fencing on the same estate.
Fencing repairs
Snapped posts. Sagging rails. Broken gates. Damaged sections after a tree-fall. We repair our own
work for the lifetime of the fence, and we'll repair other contractors' work where it's worth saving.
Where it isn't, we'll tell you straight.
Replacement is usually cheaper than four years of patching.
Fence removal.
Old chain-link. Collapsing post-and-wire. The previous owner's misjudged closeboard. The wreckage
of a storm. We take it down, take it away, dispose of it properly, and leave the ground ready for what
comes next.
We can do removal as a standalone job if you're planning a longer fencing project for the future.

Scale and timing.
We size the crew to the project. A two-man crew is right for a few hundred metres of stock fencing; for
longer runs or tight deadlines we'll put three or four hands on it.
We give written start and finish dates with every quote, and we hold them. Agricultural work usually
has a season behind it. There's no point booking a job that misses the window.
Brush clearance
Overgrown boundaries. Neglected paddock corners. Scrub that's eaten a fence line. We clear by hand, by chainsaw, by flail where the access works.
Cleared material is chipped on site or burned where permitted. We're licensed for the chainsaw and brush-cutter work and our insurance covers the lot.
