Stabling

Timber stabling and yard buildings, built to last and to suit the yard.

Two large timber stables with a covered outdoor area for tacking up

Fixed-yard and timber stabling with covered areas for tacking up, built to the way you run the yard. Timber-framed with quality cladding, sound floors and proper drainage, designed around daily use rather than supplied as flat-pack. Built to weather the seasons and serve for years.

What size should a stable be?

A general guide is around 12 by 12 feet for a horse and 10 by 12 for a pony, with larger boxes for foaling. We build to your horses and yard.

Do you include a tacking-up area?

Yes, we can build covered areas for tacking up and storage as part of the stabling, designed around how the yard runs.

What about drainage and flooring?

Proper drainage and a sound, level floor are essential and built in, so the stabling stays dry, clean and easy to muck out.

Is timber stabling durable?

Built from quality timber with good cladding and a sound base, yes, it weathers the seasons and lasts for years with basic upkeep.

Do I need planning permission?

Some stabling and yard buildings need planning or prior approval, depending on scale and site. We can advise and point you to the local planning position.
