Rail spacing and gate positions are set with the horse in mind, and stock wire can be added behind for boundary fields. Built on site to follow the ground and stay straight.
Why three rails for horses?
Three rails is the standard for horses, giving a strong, visible barrier at a height and spacing that discourages leaning, pushing and escape.
Oak or softwood for paddocks?
Treated softwood is cost-effective and lasts well; sawn oak costs more, lasts longer and looks superb on premium yards. We build both.
Should I add stock wire?
For boundary fields, adding stock wire behind the rails keeps horses in and dogs, foxes and deer out. For internal paddock divides, rails alone are often enough.
How is the fencing made horse-safe?
Smooth rails, no protruding fixings, rounded corner posts and sensible rail spacing so a hoof cannot trap. We set gate latches at a safe height too.
How long does paddock fencing last?
Treated softwood typically lasts 15 to 20 years and sawn oak longer again, especially where the timber is capped and kept clear of standing water.
